Clifton Colour 1, Bristol

                                                 Acrylic paint on Fabriano paper

I have been working on a collection of small paintings produced on primed fabriano paper using acrylic paint and pencil. Continuing to focusing on the subject of bridging, Through the juxtaposition of colour and expressionism, I am exploring the vertiginous element, as well as space and composition. Diverse mark making is developing the 'push and pull' features present the paintings.  I value the 'palimpsest effect' - the result of barely visible marks of erased work that are present on mediaeval manuscripts.  In this collection they are allowed to create layers of past marks that represent the history of the making.
